This was our morning adventure to the Forbidden City..why wasn't I smiling..well..I think there were a million people there. It was the biggest crowd that I have ever been in. Also, it was very hot and it wasn't foggy out, that is smog! So, the smog literally makes you feel like you have asthma, go figure. We didn't really enjoy this outing, so we have opted out of the toursity activities with the kids..we'll get to see all of these things one day. Jon and I really appreciate the simple things in life...the quiet streets, parks, trees, grass, etc! :)

So...I noticed how much this Pepsi was and just had to blog about it. It was 2.60RMB..that's probably the equivalent to a quarter in the US..how do the sell it for so cheap??

Jon's first try at street food..what is it? Well...we don't really know. It was kinda like a tortilla stuff with pork and other greasy stuff..he didn't feel to great after eating this one. Since then, we haven't gotten much street food..hopefully in Changsha, the street food will be a little better.

This is the exercise park where we go frequently. One adjustment we have had to make is that Beijing is very loud. When you're in the park, you hear horns, busses, constructions, everything is loud. The kids seem to have adjusted well to this.

Everything is an adventure...crossing the street is quite a task. You can't wait for the road to clear both ways..it's way too busy for that. So, you take one lane at a time. The first few times we crossed the road with the kids, we were kinda nervous, now, it seems a little better. So, you might end up standing in the middle of the road for a while with traffic on both sides..sometimes coming right at you before you can cross...it's an adventure. Today, when Micah and I walked to the exercise park, I noticed how comfortable he was with crossing the street..he held my hand (of course) but didn't even seem to notice the cars that looked like they were coming straight for us. Another thing we're learning..kids adapt very well!!
